120FPS on Series consoles?

What happened to 120fps in performance mode on the series consoles? This was active on the flight but only runs at 60fps now. I also would like to know what is the difference between performance and quality mode right now.

Is it not 120FPS how do you tell ?

I only have a 60 hz TV so it wouldn’t matter to me but I know my Series X is greyed out on Quality mode, I don’t have the option to choose Performance even if I wanted to.

I can see the difference, especially after playing a game at 120fps before hand. I also saw a performance test for infinite on YouTube that should it playing at 60 fps on performance mode on both series consoles. Very disappointing if they don’t institute 120 fps.

I’m only getting 90fps on PC with a 2070super. The optimization is terrible.

It is 120 FPS on performance mode on the Series X. I can confirm this.

This post made me curious since I’ve been playing in 120hz mode, so I decided to double check.

First I turned on Xbox, made sure refresh rate was 60, started Halo. Double checked video settings, Quality is the only option. Went into training. My tv allows me to see the framerate and it stayed at 60 the whole time. Noticeably choppy which would make sense since I am used to 120.

Then quit, went back to Xbox settings and changed to 120hz. Went back to halo. First I stayed on quality, framerate the same, TV frame counter showed jumps from 100s to 60-70 which to me indicates the tv knows the game is running at a lower framerate than it has been set to look for. Smoothness the same as 60hz.

Turned on performance mode and difference was immediately obvious. No frame drops. So 120 is definitely working. I would just double check settings of your TV and Xbox if you feel there is no difference.

I have Series X, but I have seen a few posts saying Series S no longer has a performance option, unfortunate if intentional but perhaps it was done because resolution was deemed too low in this mode? Would be curious about a follow-up to this
