Hello everyone just wondering if people think that the new halo game will upgrade to the new 120FPS, I myself hope they do because it would most definitely help a lot in the performance of the game. What do you guys think?
I think the multiplayer will be 120fps, the Campaign is 60fps

That would sound great because the campaign will most likely be massive so 60FPS would be expected

While 120 FPS is a flex of system performance, it gets to a point where you can’t even notice it anymore. Depending what’s on the screen at any given time, 120 FPS isn’t out of the picture. I’ll admit, it would be nice.
Rather a stable 60fps and more effort put into graphics / physics etc.
Also… I would imagine 60fps would allow them to do more stuff / consistant quality with Forge maps?
Lighting. Deformable objects. Bigger explosions etc.
I play Firefight and would love 120 for that since I do not look at the scenery and such as much. 60 for the campaign would be fine for me.
That would be amazing but I think it’ll be 60fps. I would gladly have 1080p with lowered graphics to hit 120fps. I think the only games that are gonna run at 120fps are smaller, less graphically demanding games and Infinite is not going to be that.
120fps FPS on console would be bonkers, but I agree 343i should just focus on getting as much out of the Series X at 60fps as possible. Inifnite is going to be the XSX’s flagship launch title and needs to blow everybody’s minds with its visuals and you won’t get that with 120fps.
For multiplayer they may not be able to hit 120 FPS in order to be compatible with XB1. Otherwise they would have to add custom graphics settings.
At best you might get a performance option, but if so you better be ready for some serious drops in visual fidelity in terms of resolution or quality.
It would be cool to see of course, but folks need to be ready to accept some compromises for that to happen.
There’s alot of variables at play in achieving true 120fps on a TV. You have to have a TV that runs at native 120hz. Most TV’s market that they can run 120hz, but this isn’t the case. They are using interpolation methods to achieve 120hz, this is more for movies than gaming. Not to mention HDMI requirements to play at 120fps at 4K on a tv. It’s possible, but you will be paying out the noes for it.
120 frames would be nice, but it must be maintained at a steady rate with consistency.
I predict:
XB1 - 30fps w/ low graphics & dynamic res up to 1080p
XB1X - 60fps w/ low graphics, VRR, & dynamic res up to 1440p
XBSX - 120fps w/ high graphics, VRR, & dynamic res up to 4k
PC - uncapped fps w/ adjustable graphics, VRR, & static/dynamic res up to 4k.
Note that most TVs/monitors (and no current graphics cards) support HDMI 2.1, which is needed for 4k@120fps. Most players will only be capable of 1440p@120fps or 4k@60fps.
I don’t see why there would be a difference between campaign and multiplayer FPS, so i predict they’ll be approximately the same, but may have framerate drops on more extreme missions/maps.
I also don’t see them lowering the fps or graphics of the XBSX version to be compatible with the XB1/XB1X versions of the game. There is already a big difference between the XB1 and XB1X in performance, and i suspect we’ll see a similar situation with cross-compatible games between the XB1/XB1X and the XBSX.
Finally, almost everyone sees a huge increase in visual quality from 60fps to 120fps. Most players don’t see much improvement at framerates higher than 120fps. I think that’s a good target for next gen games to shoot for.
As long as the framerate is uncapped, It will probably depend on your hardware. On console though, I predict that it’ll max out at around 60fps, mostly because that seems to be the universal norm for most triple A titles coming out.

I agree! Console hardware still can’t push 120fps, in my opinion. And the main stream audience loves to have 4k which definitely cant push 120fps and 4k. I could see a scenario where they let you choose your resolution. But unlikely for console.
Uhh… why wouldn’t it run that well? Console wise that’d be the top, but I am sure it’ll be running quite well on my PC.

Yeah, lots of people are going to fall for the marketing buzzwords without actually understanding what their devices are capable of. Realistically, 60fps is plenty good for a console. Consoles are all about striking a balance between performance and price, so hitting a locked 60fps with a clear image is what I hope and expect them to pull off.
I don’t think it’ll be 120fps on the consoles, even the Series X. However, I think maybe it’ll be 120 on PC.
if I know Microsoft im getting a super Xbox… called Xbox s… it’s got no disc… perfect for me…
