12:01 AM October 27th

You sit down on your couch at 12:00 am anxiously waiting to start up Halo 5. The game is huge and took hours to predownload. You start it up at 12:01 and go straight to matchmaking. You search for whatever you’re expecting to get a game out of fastest so you go to Team Slayer. 5 minutes passes and not a single player has been connected to you. You back out and try Rumble Pit. The same. You try the new gametype warzone because maybe everyone is playing that. After searching for 15 more minutes you get into a game. Teams are assigned to an odd 14 on red team and 10 on blue team. 2 minutes in and you lag out and can’t find another game.

You’ve already been annoyed by 343i and the hiccups that plagued MCC for months and still affect it. You were upset with Halo 4 and now Halo 5 isn’t working. How does this affect your opinion on 343i. How big of a deal is it that Halo 5 launch runs smoothly?

tl;dr

If Halo 5 does not have a smooth launch with easy to find matchmaking games and secure servers, how will it affect your opinion?

It won’t happen. They have a lot of people predownloading by the online editions, xbox ones, and the LCEs, it’ll be fine.

I would judge 343 and not buy from them again until they do a 180.
But that won’t happen. Halo 5 is one game that has been worked on for 3 years while the MCC was a year project with 5 games. That’s a big difference.

I’m expecting some connectivity problems on the first night. I think it will be fine, though. I don’t think -Yoink!- will allow another MCC launch.

Yet you muddle the forums up with your toxic pessimistic views? Sounds perfect, thanks for being helpful to the community broseph.

Excuse me, I meant I “would” if the servers sucked, which obviously won’t happen.
I haven’t posted on this forum in a month until today. I just made a new thread. What about me is being pessimistic? How am I being toxic? Could you please explain to me because I’m confused.

I will sell this game if it won’t run more smoothly within the first three weeks. I won’t get my money back if I wait longer though.

Personally it won’t affect me, I’ll be diving straight into the campaign so as long as any possible hiccups are resolved by day 2, all will be well.

To all saying it won’t happen:

Let’s just hope MCC was a beta test.

I am almost certainly expecting there to be a few hiccups however I think that will only be for a short time whilst all the people are signing /connecting into the servers

I expect some minor online problems but as far as gameplay like for campaign and stuff it should be 100% when we finally get to play

The reason why MCC was so horribly overrun with issues is because each of those halo games basically had their own engine. SO having them all in one game kinda made a huge mess.
Halo 4 didn’t have any issues (at least not for me or anyone else I know) when it was released
Halo 5 will be the same.

Server issues are to be expected. I’ll be ok if it works the next day. Still might take time off from work though.

I think youre missing the point. The issue isnt people pre-loading, it’s the MP when the servers come on. pre-loaded or not, if youre playing MP, you are on the servers and when too many people are on the servers they can crash. Every Halo launch has dealt with this at mid-night release/launch day. Even the beta had some hiccups it’s first day.

OT: I plan on playing campaign first on Legendary, as is tradition. so hopefully it’ll be up 100% by then.

I wouldn’t notice it because the first thing I’ll do will be finishing the campaign on Heroic to soak up the story before I can be exposed to spoilers.

Also:

  1. The 343i team working on MCC have nothing to do with H5’s development.
  2. They’re planning to make everything run on dedicated servers including campaign coop, so they’re probably won’t be half-yoinking it. And they no doubt would have Microsoft network technicians helping them.

The campaign is rumored to be over 16 hours long. You guys have fun with that one! lol

My tradition has always to jump into a multiplayer match after release, get a feel for the game and maybe screw around in forge for a bit.

I usually always start the campaign the following weekend and always play the first time on normal to get a feel then go for legendary run.

I’m willing to bet it won’t happen at all. However, I have a predetermined tolerance allotment just in case. I’d give them the night.
