Hello everyone. You may know me on BNet as Darth Kooky. until this week, I haven’t integrated myself into the Waypoint Forums.
Now that the pleasantries/introduction is over with I pose to you an idea.
Halo: Reach shipped with 49 achievements and 1000 Gamerscore.
The Noble Map Pack released with 7 new achievements worth 250 Gamerscore.
The Defiant Map Pack released with 3 new achievements worth 150 Gamerscore.
Anniversary releases with 7 new achievements worth 250 Gamerscore.
1000 + 250 + 150 + 250 = 1650 Gamerscore.
If you’re still with me, I’m about to make my point.
The max amount of Gamerscore a game can have (as per Microsoft’s rules and regulations) is 1750 Gamerscore. 100 Gamerscore more than Reach is about to cap at. Now I am very grateful for everything Bungie, 343i, and CA have given us thus far with Reach but what I pose for the last 100 G is 3 new Firefight maps as Reach’s final DLC.
Map 1: Centered in the streets of New Alexandria, you and your team must fight off an onslaught of Covenant forces at and around a plaza. The map would feature a Scorpion Tank and hazards would include Banshees and Wraiths as well as the standard Drop Pods.
Map 2: A rooftop map set in the evening hours of New Alexandria which just so happens to be a re-imagination of the final battle of NMPD Headquarters in ODST.
Map 3: A Lost Platoon-style map on Reach with Revenant, Ghost, and Wraith Hazards. A Gauss 'Hog is the Spartan’s only defense with possible Marine reinforcements similar to the new Installation 04 Firefight map.
This is where the 7 new achievements can be found.
The Achievements, copy-pasted from the bulletin.

We need to get a freeby map like we did in H3
but it needs to be a zombie theme’d stranded scrap built forts looking kinda map
like the human strandeds off of gears of war area’s.
I don’t think they will do this, unless its free. Limiting it to just firefight would reduce the sales incredibly. I haven’t bought the 2nd map pack because of the 1 firefight map. I don’t ever play firefight, I don’t like it, and having 1 out of 3 maps being firefight, I feel cheated so I aint buying it. I already know quite a few people who feel the same way. They won’t do this just because the sales will drop too much for them.
Maybe so but you and others with a similar opinion are only a percentage of the community. Speaking of not buying it, why not do it this week? It’s only 400 points so in your mind, you’re paying 200 points per MP map with 1 Firefight map thrown in absolutely free! No need to play it as you got what you wanted anyway.

Um… I could be wrong about this… but as bs angel was talking about Halo: Anniversary achievements… wouldn’t those seven multiplayer achievements be counted towards Anni’s Gamer Score instead of Reach’s?
Anyway… I’d love some new Firefight maps and maybe a few Reach achievements to go with them…
Nope. Those are all Reach achievements. Because Halo: Anniversary’s multiplayer is actually in the Reach engine, the MP achievements are in Reach. This is how the bleep bloops and the maps work.
Classic Maps
The Classic Maps that accompany Halo: Anniversary were created in the Reach Engine so as not to split the community between Reach MP and Halo: CE MP.
Method 1: The maps are playable in Reach from the CEA disc and you can play with fellow CEA owners and people from Reach (provided they have installed the maps on their HDD).
Method 2: You can install the maps on to your HDD like you would with most Game of the Year Edition DLC Installation Discs (Ex. Borderlands, Fallout 3, Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Disc). You will now no longer need the CEA disc to play these maps as these are downloaded on to your HDD and work just like the Noble and Defiant Map Packs.
They are in the Reach Engine. Remember that.
Halo: Anniversary’s Achievements
CEA has two batches of achievements. One main batch is all for the remastered Halo Campaign and are the actual CEA achievements. However, the Classic Maps have their own separate achievements that are tracked in Reach. This is the second batch. They are the achievements I have referenced and quoted in a previous post. They bring Reach’s Gamerscore total up to 1650 and the achievement count up to 66 in total. CEA’s are holding steady at 45 total achievements totaling 1000 Gamerscore.
Anywho, I don’t think a firefight only map pack would sell enough. I might buy it if it was cheaper than regular map packs though, like maybe somewhere between 400 and 600 MS Points. Overall though I don’t think there are enough people into firefight enough to purchase a map pack strictly for it, especially if it’s 800 MS Points. However, I could be wrong.
I would love and prefer just another regular map pack tbh.
I’ve been searching through the old posts and videos from HaloFest onward… so far nothing that says “Halo Anniversary Multiplayer Achievments count towards Halo Reach”…
But you should also consider that the Halofest Halo Anniversary Multiplayer panel discussion spoke of the Reach and Anniversary Multiplayer Communities as being seperate but able to play together…
Additionally… why would you get Halo Reach GS if you ONLY have Halo Anniversary? There’s no requirement for you to own Halo Reach to play on these new maps…
As I said before though that will really only get sorted out in 26 days… and perhaps we’ll get GS for the achievements in both games (whichever one you happen to have loaded at the time).
I would pay 800 msp for just one new forge world, A forge world wih multiple levels already built in and new objects ( Not forerunner, maybe a selection of various textures and shapes ) to forge with.
> Additionally… why would you get Halo Reach GS if you ONLY have Halo Anniversary? There’s no requirement for you to own Halo Reach to play on these new maps…
You can download these from the marketplace if you just want to play the maps but don’t want anniversary (not sure who would be that crazy, but still). So why would you get Halo Anniversary achievements if you ONLY have Reach and are ONLY playing the maps through Reach?
Also when ODST came with H3’s multiplayer (like Anniversary is coming with Reach’s), any multiplayer achievements you got counted towards H3 even if you didn’t own H3.
I’m sure there is somewhere they said it but don’t remember sorry so this will have to do sorry =/
My last post was at 3 AM and I was running on fumes…
I have both H3 and ODST… never looked at the achievements from them though (I’ve had them so long I don’t remember which ones came with what). It could very well be that the Anni MM Achievements count towards Reach, I just haven’t seen that stated anywhere.
H3:ODST was not meant to be a stand alone (even though it was, it has always been referd to as “added” to Halo 3), which might explain why the multiplayer achievements counted in Halo 3 instead of H3:ODST. Also… ODST didn’t have a multiplayer of it’s own other than Firefight… Halo:CE did… Halo:Anni will… which makes Anni much different from ODST for that simple fact alone.
Frank’s comment was about halfway through the Anni Multiplayer panel discussion at HaloFest… about how the “Anni and Reach MM communities were able to play together” (the plural here implies more than one unique entity) suggests that the Anni-MM is seperate from the Reach-MM… which would put Anni’s MM Achievements in Anni’s GS insead of Reach’s. I’m not saying “IT CAN’T BE LIKE ODST”… just that it might not be (26 days until we know for sure… unless something official is stated somewhere).
I think it was Max who later answered a question about the map playablity in Reach if you didn’t buy Anni… he replies that the new Anni-Map Pack would be out “SOON” but the date hadn’t been set yet (so probably within a week or two of Anni’s release… and don’t think I didn’t notice that indirect quote to this information either). However this begs an additional question… will there be a REACH Map Pack for Anni at the same time (for those who own Anni but not Reach)?
I like accuracy… not always being proven correct. All I ask is that you find a source for me.
