10+ years of success gone down the drain

i just feel like 343 strayed to far from the HALO formula, no 3 second respawn, no X on the screen when a teammate is killed, no set weapon starts, and no weapons on the map, i just feel like this game isnt HALO anymore, i understand that you want to add new features, but at what cost ? having people instantly respawn around the corner before your shields recharge ? maybe i expected to much of HALO 4… at least it wasnt Bungie.

Go play CTF. Three second respawn is alive and well there.

stop making the same thread over and over. thanks.

Insta-spawn= fast paced gameplay to a point. It balances well now with this.
CTF AND KOTH both have 3 second spawns anyways.

Slayer Pro = Set weapons.
SWAT = Set weapons
You get enough spartan tokens by 18 to mimic anyone’s “OP” class in your mind anyways.

No X on the screen= play with friends and make call outs like the game was designed for.

No weapons on the map? /Can’t tell if you’re blind or not.

2 year of sucsess on waypoint down the drain. I just feel that waypoint was doing so well for a year then all these new people came with their mass complaining with many crappy reasons just for the sake of complaining, they only play one gametype and don’t like it because they’re to lazy to adapt. Holy crap you don’t even know what you’re saying, just give up.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t the “X” on the screen only been around since Reach?

My lord, how did we survive all of those other Halo games without that thing that did situational awareness for us!?

Agree 100%!

yawn boring thread. Op is boring.

the red x has been there since halo 2

No X on screen, and your solution is to just play with friends and make call outs? This isn’t competitive halo or anything, what’s wrong with an X? You don’t always play with friends, or at least I don’t. And if you notice most people are in parties or just don’t wear headsets in random MM. The X wasn’t so much of a want, but a necessity to a part of the fanbase.

I fail to see how instaspawning balances the game. I mean, I’m not opposed to the thought that it could balance the game, but I just don’t see it.

Has it? I honestly don’t remember it in 2 (its been a few years since I played 2, granted). I guess to be honest I never really payed attention to it, I just kept tabs on my teammates the old-fashioned way.

Is it me or are a lot people missing the big X that appears on the radar when one of your teammates bites it?

Its the same threads over and over again! Seriously if you don’t like it then don’t play it deal with it.

X is only in radar range. It just isn’t quite the same, but yes there is that X.

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe the “X” was absent in Halo: CE. It’s been so long since I’ve played the game outside of Campaign that I’m unsure.

As for your other complaints, I’m honestly getting sick of the pessimism and extremist points of view on Waypoint. These forums were actually constructive and friendly months ago.

But, never the less before I stray too far off topic:

These changes are more than welcome to myself, and I’ve been a Halo fan from the very start. It’s funny how many people want Halo to become a clone of Halo 2 with each new title, despite that being the very issue of Halo’s greatest rival Call of Duty. Stagnation.

The classes, eh they aren’t a big deal. People can actually personalize their play style and stick to their niche. It adds variety, and it adds something new to every game. Of course, there are a few tweaks that are needed to help balance loadouts and stop one particular set up from being used all of the time but that should have been expected from the beginning.

The Ordinance Drop system is a nice change, and it removes the whole camping a single weapon spawn thing that most other Halo games have had. It doesn’t guarantee a victory to a team who managed to snag the power weapons from the beginning of the match, it helps mix things up and actually prioritize map control even more than the other games if you think about it enough.

The new elements, other than the lack of Custom Games Options and an actual Symmetrical Forge Environment are wonderful from my standpoint. Though, as I said I am not blind to the areas that need improvement and the various bug fixes that are required.

Many people are overreacting at this point, they need to chill out and wait a bit for 343 to at least attempt and address these issues.

my complaints are valid, i have played halo for 10+ years, i know what halo is, and this game isn’t halo, key features from previous games are missing, features that made HALO the game i “knew” its not just MP features that are missing, were is campaign scoring? campaign theater? race in custom games? i want to enjoy this game as a complete package, not just as 2 game types, if you think the game doesn’t need fixing from its current state then you never knew what a true HALO game was

Oh he is talking about mp…

people are dumb.

all of that is in the game, just play different playlists…
