If 343 has their engine, art style, game asset’s nailed down for a 10 year plan. What are all those employee’s at 343 going to do? Seems to me that if all they need is DLC for Infinite. Maybe that free’s up some manpower for a new game, Halo Wars 3, ODST 2 with a new squad, maybe make some new DLC missions about Halsey and the Janus Key or Blue team composing the Didact called Spartan Chronicles rather than just haveing this in comics. I think I saw a video that 14 Bungie employee’s made ODST in five months. They just cut and paste assets but gave it a different noir atmosphere and its a favorite among the halo titles.
I think some manpower will be freed up for side projects, but I don’t think it will just be DLC for Halo Infinite. I think Infinite is going to become kinda what MCC is. A hub with several different titles. So I think 343 will always be working on what we consider new titles, they’ll just now be under the Halo Infinite banner.

That’s nuts. Personally, I’d like to see a game based of one of the books. Playing through “The fall of reach” would be really cool!
it would build them time for them to expand and take risks on new Halo canon/games such as stories untold like Reach, ODST, Spartan Assault,Halo Wars & probably a new few things.
I think a Create a Spartan mode would be cool, too. I know you could customize Noble Six, but it was still Noble Six’s story. I’m thinking something similar to sports games. You create a Spartan recruit and work your way through the ranks, leveling up in different skills and maintaining that character over the life of Halo Infinite. That Spartan can then be the payable character for side campaigns.
The way I interpreted this is that it will be similar to every other “live service” game. There will probably be regular free content and balance updates while the game is funded by microtransactions and/or some kind of battle pass system. At least for the multiplayer, which has been confirmed to be F2P.
For Campaign, which is seemingly being sold as a separate product, we’ll probably get the occasional DLC/expansion every year or so, or maybe just one or two, or maybe none at all if they focus exclusively on supporting MP. I doubt they’ll be integrating any past titles into Infinite when MCC already exists on the same platforms and they could just create a “Series X Enhanced” port for XSX.
From what I know of 343i mostly handled story development while Creative Assembly did most of the software development for HW2, so a potential HW3 will likely follow this pattern due to different technical aspects between RTS and FPS games. The Janus Key got taken back by a Forerunner AI in a very hilarious manner in the Halo: Escalations comic, so that opportunity might have been also cut off. I do support your general idea to explore different stories in DLC, but I honestly doubt that will be the case. They might leave single player content and instead update the multiplayer in GTAOL fashion. Infinite’s going to be open-world after all, I’ll be shocked if they won’t take advantage of this and solely settle for traditional PvP in confined maps.

Sadly the Janus Key plotline was over in the comics. What I would like is over the course of 10 years different parts of the ring opens up. Remember there were so many rooms and doors on the Halos and Ark that we never open. Halo always had a sense of mystery to it. I hope this game brings that back. Would be ashame if we reawoke a nightmare on one of these DLCs.

i could see this happening and i would be ok with that direction
Hopefully maybe a Marine or once again an ODST prespective of an Event, i also want to say on this 10 years of service hopefully if you buy the campaign you recieve all the battle pass for free just like the MCC.

That does sound cool! It would be the perfect way for them to go if/when they kill of chief(dear lord, don’t let it happen any time soon!).
I am hoping that we can see a Halo Infinite DLC campaign levels in future updates. Personally, I want to see a Halo Infinite DLC campaign levels where Arbiter and ODST Troopers are the main characters.
Every game that’s claimed a 10 year plan has had to change plans within the first few years. I wouldn’t put too much stake in it.
Not to mention, depending on the size of the DLC’s, the dev team may actually be kept very busy, especially since the game being around for 10 years would probably mean another console generation and the engine needing more updates to keep up graphically.

Halo Infinite will be a platform for the future of Halo, the next ten years of the universe. This means post-launch content both for Campaign as well as Multiplater, and a huge, huge amount of expansions and bold new directions for modes and story gameplay. Think World of Warcraft or Destiny, wherein there will be the base game and multiple large additions over the years that add a plethora of content. It has also been confirmed that, for 343, spinoff titles are not a matter of “If” but “When”. I’d bet my millionth dollar they’ll have a spinoff in the next few years.

It was already confirmed Infinite will have post-launch Campaigns added after the main Campaign is over following the Master Chief. Basically, expansion after launch that will add more to Campaign.
I’m very excited to see how they use open-world in pvp. Either in a mode like Warzone or even a massive scale Firefight on steroids.

My father proposed this idea too. I think it’s great. It would allow for further opportunities to customize and personalize our Spartan, while also opening avenues for PvE multiplayer. Like Reach’s campaign mixed with Spartan Ops mixed with open-world. Could be very very juicy.

This could definitely work.
I think it will lead up to the spirit of fire and attriox escaping the Ark in the near future as a further story plot.
10 years… I hope 343 has a roadmap for those 10 years as far as content goes.
