They should never has messed around with KBM
Halo is a console shooter designed for controllers.
That’s how it’s always been and that’s the very DNA of Halo.
When Halo CE launched 20 years ago one of of the biggest pieces of praise that I saw was that it had finally translated good FPS gameplay to a controller.
The Halo franchise was not originally designed with KBM in mind and to change its DNA now to account for PC players on KBM is a mistake.
PC players, embrace the controller.
If you wanna play KBM go play Quake, Counter Strike, etc.
Halo is a console franchise for controllers.
If you wanna play on PC, use a controller. Then we wouldn’t have any of these BS complaints about PC advantage or aim assist.
While you do call attention to Halo’s legacy as a Console shooter, the industry and standards are changing.
Consoles took off because owning a gaming PC for years was a literal meme. Not only were they expensive, but they would be outdated in 2-3 years if you were lucky.
Nowadays the PC market is booming, it’s no longer a joke to suggest anyone could get into PC gaming. Builds are economical and robust, the library available trumps anything you could possibly find on Console, and there’s millions of players willing to pay the price to play the newest experience. Paired with the push towards cross platform play between identical titles, naturally gaming companies are going to jump on the opportunity to market games to a wider demographic.
The industry is changing my dude, while it’s ok to remember a time when everyone stayed in their lane with exclusives and every console of choice had their own community they got super involved in, it’s time to grow up and realize the world is connecting in ways we could only speculate about 10 years ago. Nothing is going to change that.
Anyone who thinks Infinite’s AA is doing anything more than like 5% of the lifting is watching too many rigged videos by bitter pc players who have their Mnk plugged in at the same time as controller, which caused a massive AA boost bug in the flights.
Yeah my one friend sucks at Keyboard and Mouse and swapped to controller. My other friend however can insta snap on to people after his time playing Counter Strike.
halo is fine on a mouse and keyboard, has been since CE was ported to PC in 2003. the problem is matching two playerbases with completely different inputs together.
me and one of my longtime halo buddies 1v1’d on MnK with the BR only, we were matched pretty evenly. 1v1’d on controller while he was on mouse and I demolished him 15-4.
I’m definitely 10x better with weapons like the sniper on mouse but magnetism makes weapons that require any degree of tracking substantially easier, at least in my case. I could just be bad at tracking, either way its clearly not balanced.
No issue with it being on PC but either don’t force crossplay or force controller use on PC to keep things level.
Why they forced crossplay for everything other than ranked I don’t know. Surely the game population is large enough that they don’t have to force crossplay for the majority of modes.
Multiplayer fps developers Should just ditch pc gaming.
It’s nothing but pay 2 win cheaters.
PC GAMING used to be the superior platform but over the last few years the platform has become infected with cheaters.
No amount of anti hack will ever stop it, the flaw lies in the operating system.
Pc gaming is for cheaters, it’s a problem in every fps title on pc, every single one!
You’re talking out of your -Yoink!-. LOL. Some of the best M&K players in the world are playing Infinite every day. They readily admit that in high level ranked controller is at a big advantage. You even have a few that never play controller jumping on the sticks and getting to Onyx without an issue. Of course if you’re really good on M&K you can beat people that aren’t good on controller. However with two players near the same level the controller player will have the advantage. There is literal accuracy data to prove it as well. Not only that, the comp scene has already started and they’ve been playing on PC with input open to the players choice. No M&K players making it anywhere.
As the OP stated, this isn’t about messing up controller. I’ve played every Halo and was on controller for all of them until MCC. This is about giving players the option to limit the pool they play with too just M&K or even just controller if you choose to do so. Right now that’s only possible in the solo/duo ranked queue.
There is very clear data using ranked matches. Unfortunately it looks like you can’t post links. You can easily find it on YouTube or Reddit. The GameLeap Halo Infinite Guides channel on YouTube has a recent video that does a nice job of breaking it down.
That data is from a sample size of 400 people. It’s not exactly accurate and it’s it’s out of context, has no control group aka it’s controller against controller and Mouse against Mouse. It’s super incomplete and misleading.
As for the “pro” scene HCS is a weird secret club full of washed up players who’ve played controller their whole lives.
Like honestly dude I have no issue playing against controller players I typically curb stomp them. Just git gud.
Nah dude. Once you start playing on M&K it’s painful to pick a controller back up. It feels unnatural and impossible to aim. I honestly wouldn’t have even played Infinite if it didn’t have M&K support despite my love for Halo. It’s like going back to 30fps from 170fps or going back to 480p after watching 4K. Also, Halo has been on PC since Halo 1. Take your bad take elsewhere lol.
My take is based on facts. Facts which have been proven and posted using actual data. Your take is based on your feelings. LOL. Yeah, Halo CE eventually released on PC. Guess what, Mr. terrible take, there was no cross play. Everyone on Halo CE on PC was using M&K. I have played Infinite on both M&K and controller. As a M&K player the movement definitely feels terrible on controller but the accuracy is better because of the Aim Assist. Again, this has already been proven. It’s not a debate for anyone with a brain. Take your arguments against facts and data which can be proven elsewhere.
We can see in your mind you’re better than many of the best M&K players in the world. LOL. Nice trolling or maybe you are really detached from reality.
It hasn’t been proven. You have a very small sample size with isolated data. Idk what’s so hard to understand about that.
Oh, and you’re wrong. I used a controller on Halo PC.
It sounds to me like you desperately want to buy into this because you aren’t as good on M&K as you would like to think and want to knock controller players down to compensate.
Here’s an actual fact: Halo Infinite has the lowest aim assist on controller ever in a Halo game.
It’s obvious you don’t want to face reality and are talking out of you -Yoink!-. Clearly you believe you’re better and more knowledgeable than some of the best M&K players in the world. Better and more knowledgeable than top Halo players that use both inputs. Let us know your stream so we can watch you dominate controller players in high level ranked. LOL!
I think this falls under the “beta” banner if I had to make an educated guess.
It’s already been stated that Crossplay is not going to be default and that segregated consoles are going to make a debut, but I think mainly it has to do with testing and such.
Yes this is true, but when compared to the default high AA standards of the previous Halo games it’s going to feel inferior even if it’s still objectively solid AA.
If the jump went from A5 Wagyu to Dollar Tree ribeye, then there would be some obvious concern. But you’re going from A5 Wagyu to USDA certified choice Black Angus ribeye, it’s ok to lament over the drop but it could be far worse.
Wow, this is literally a braindead comment. My accuracy went up 10% switching to controller. Quit being mad because you are used to MCC auto aim which is even stronger. Develop some muscle memory ffs.
