- Halo 5 is returning to the competitive scene. Halo hasn’t really resonated with pro players since Halo 3. Halo 5 is really trying to bring them back with the announcement of the first major tournament of having a prize pool of 1 million dollars.
- All of the Halo 5 multiplayer DLC is free. This will bring players back whenever maps are released and give players more of a reason to keep playing. It also gives you more value for your 60 dollars.
- The Arbiter is back, need I say more?
- Halo 5 is adding new things to breathe new life into the franchise. Spartan abilities are a great example of this. Halo needs to innovate itself in order to stay relevant.
- The community. People such as late night taking, ready up live, Halo follower, Uprising, and even people on waypoint, are trying to make the Halo community a welcoming place for new and old fans alike. This will welcome new people to the community and get more people to play and enjoy Halo 5.
- Halo 5 is returning to equal starts. In arena, everyone spawns with the same weapon and same abilities. Even though warzone has a loadout-like system, it is still balanced due to leveling up during the match to only be able to get more powerful weapons at the same time.
- The story is supposed to be darker and is probably going to tell an amazing story. It will show a different side of chief while introducing a new character that we play as, Locke.
- Halo 5s levels are reportedly more open and are more like normal Halo levels.
- Warzone. Warzone is something new that we have never seen in Halo or many other first person shooters. I love how we can fight ai in mp. This has been a dream of mine since is started playing Halo.
- Halo 5 is a Halo game. It’s returning to normal halo formula. Equal starts, arena gameplay, balanced gameplay, and a great campaign. Halo is back.
A quality list. I especially liked number 8.
- Dedicated Servers!
Good list
So Halo 5 will be great because it’s a Halo game.
The name ‘Halo’ doesn’t make a game spectacular anymore, I’m afraid.

That’s not really what he was saying. He’s saying that this will measure up and be worthy of the title of halo, which is what the epic original trilogy set the bar for. It’s not just good because it’s halo, it’s good because it’s measuring up to the legacy of the BEST halos. Plus it’s what the community has wanted ever since reach, so id call that a plus.
I would add- Longest campaign ever released for any halo game. Longer than Halo 2s (I believe?)

Thanks
Pfft! That’s it? I can think of at least seventeen more reasons why this game will be phenomenal.
But honestly, Halo 5 could potentially be the best Halo game yet.

Really that’s it? What about 100…

I’ve yet to see anything from Halo 5 that surpasses Fallout 4, Batman Arkham Knight, or even Halo Reach.
It’s a brand-spanking new, $60 Halo game that is 3+ years in the making. It has zero offline play aside from Campaign, and even then you can’t play as the other Spartans. There is not even 2-player split-screen to test new modes with. 343 has had the time to play better games, study them, and use what they’ve learned to improve Halo drastically as a whole, with Halo 5, and you’re okay with:
- No custom games browser support. Most games with dedicated servers include a matchmaking server browser, and this should apply to custom games.
- No split-screen or PvE modes.
- Absolutely no Forge news.
- Maintaining the ability to shoot (and thus staying alive longer) requires moving slower around the map.
- No other playable character races in general, or modes specifically for it (people don’t seem to realize how many games have this…) There is seriously still no Grunt Slayer minigame in Halo and it’s been 14 years.
- No Spartans Abilities that capture the acrobatics of lore?
- Poor offline playability in general* (collectible skulls and achievements perhaps being the only bastion of offline replayability.)
*This includes lacking PvE modes to play with, unlockable content such as concept art, character showcases, or even unlocking maps (which I remember was the case for unlocking Foundation in Halo 2.) Missing obvious features such as character select in Campaign, meaning you can only play as 2 of the 8 playable Spartans offline.
This isn’t directed to you specifically, but how are purists killing Halo when it’s been 8 years since Halo 3, and you guys refuse to demand real improvements? How is THAT not killing Halo?
