do you think against a unsc base a scarab or 10 locust is better?
Locusts do the most building damage, but don’t build either in a real game.
I think you could take out 10 locusts easier then one scarub. Not by much but it’s what I think without testing.
But ya what the person above me said. Don’t build either really. People that build scarubs drive me crazy having no units till they pop it out.
I’ve got a funny story…
One day searching in 3v3 party teams we ran into a team on exile. Their prophet was in the back and he sat back clearing his reactors the whole game. We take out his teammates easily and we notice that the prophet is making a scarab. My friend said, let’s wait and not take him out until his scarab is done. I said ok and we waited patiently for the scarab to appear. Pop, out it comes and we move in. Twenty cannies later, the scarab was down. We never dropped a mac or carpet and not one tank was killed. Prophet rage quit and we won. The end : )

Lol
how many locust does it take to kill a scarab?
or how many locust can a scarab kill before it dies
whos up for testing?

No Joke - I build a scarab against these 3 kids on Fort Deen who did nothing but built gauss… They built 120 gauss hogs and literally ALL RAMMED MY SCARAB… killing the warthogs in the process…
My scarab walked away while all of the hogs died… They wanted to do it… so I don’t care… funny stuff though!
IMO, i like locusts. I have used them to great success especially turning the tide in a stalemate. They are relatively easy to flank with, and with 6-8 and overdrive, a base has no chance, it comes in handy when a game has gone back and forth long enough.
As I relative Noob, especially to MM, I still catch myself accidentally hitting the Y button and ramming my warthogs into oblivion. But from what I have seen warthogs are nearly worthless in MM other than for supply gathering and scounting.

Warthogs are more useful than you think…

Please tell us some of the uses of the (multi-tool) also known as the warthog for us please.
Hogs are mostly an early game unit. They’re used to stop rushes, collect crates, delay depos/summits, clear expansions, and are even in some cases used as your primary unit (gauss). Use early warthogs to harass the opponent and you will gain an advantage. If they build turrets, you would then clear an expo or a reactor. The person who built turrets will not only waste about 500 resources, but will then have to pump out units to match yours which also gives you an advantage.
The ability to micro units is what determines high and low level players. For example, by continuously moving your hogs, a marine’s grenade can’t hit them, but if you were to let them sit there they would be blown up. Therefore, the better your micro, the better the result will be if you use hogs.
Microing is something that is not usually mastered in a short time. Many high level players are very good at microing because they do it all the time.
Hope this helps a little…

Well said and thank you for posting. If I tried to say the same things it would sound extremely dumb.
Definitely scarab if you care about keeping troops alive but if you are only trying to kill the base locusts will do it faster. Locusts are much more easily destroyed and arent very effective against enemy units though so thats the trade off. Also a few people said not to build either, and to an extent thats true you should never go into a match planning to build those at least not at first if you really are wanting to, only do it if the match is dragging out and you have the supplies and time.
I just played a game 3vs3 and I made a scarab and 1 of my enemies made max locusts and i completely demolished him so I say scarab. Thanks for all the info.
Fun thing to try: play private deathmatch against a friend on a big 3v3 map. let player A build every possible bases (except the original player B base) and build units until the population limit is reached (99/99). then self destruct every secondary bases and let player B build every possible bases. Once he reached the maximum population limit, send every units in the middle of the map. Don’t give them orders to attack specific targets, just watch the carnage.
Of course some units might make battles boring (scarab, grizzly) so heres some ideas:
-99 vs 99 basic infantry units
-33 locusts vs anything
-air units only combat
-99 vs 99 no gunner warthog battle (ram ability only!)
You could also try a 3v1 where the team of 3 only use the Arbiter leader unit (no rage mode) against 99 elite honor guards.

I stole a Overdrive locust with a spartan once, Got the thing to like 12 stars and the damn thing took out a scarab by itself which was quite impressive
scarab plus 15+ engineers + assault beam hunter squads + chieftain= unstoppable… if the game lasts that long…
I reckon that the locusts would win against pretty much anything if concentrated on a specific target.
