Now I know there are threads a dozen moaning about the mission ratio, THIS is not that.
I can accept the mission ratio, but I felt like 343 had built it up to be a propper in depth look at how chief deals with loss etc.
The whole game felt like a big intro then the last two missions were where you’d expect things to pick up but it ended (ala halo 2)
Now it could be due to it being the middle game of the saga and suffering that transitional slot in the story line. But Halo 4’s story was kinda direct and right to the point and everything (almost) that needed knowing or explained was explained in game dialogue or cutscenes, but I feel like it was just lacking here in Halo 5.
I dont know much more about osiris, I know next to nothing more about how chief copes with loss but more his curiousity, it didnt advance his story line or his ark or explore him anywhere near the amount they made it sound.
Again I DID love the campaign, It’s Halo, I love halo and anything pushing the general halo universe story forward makes me happy. HTT, books ect. But H5:G lacked a little on the narrative, it felt cut short, pages missing kinda thing. (despite having a good knowledge about the lore)
P.S not just chiefs story either but, the all of a sudden appearence of buried guardians built by forerunners not making any other mention in the fiction until now (besides a guardian sentinel)
The warden eternal and his devotion to cortana with no backstory
The monitor was a nice addition but again it’s like all these things happened at once and fast and then it ended.
