The PP in CE was very effective against vehicles in MP though. The overcharge shot dropping everyone in the vehicle’s shields usually wiped that vehicle off the board shortly after. It wasn’t an EMP, but it still filled an anti vehicle role. Maybe that’s why it eventually got EMP in H3?
I don’t honestly remember how the PP works in H2 against vehicles. I don’t think hitting the vehicle with a charge shot dropped all the passengers shields, but i don’t remember lol. Maybe Bungie looked at H2’s plasma pistol tracking as a catch all mechanic, effective enough against players and hog gunners oon its own

I kinda’ doubt that’s why.
“CE —> to every Halo game after” was supposed to mean after CE. I guess the arrow throws it off, but I did not mean from CE. But I guess in this case, it was after Halo 2 now.
Besides that, the point still stands, as long as plenty other examples that became staples to Halo besides EMP pistol .

Look you can just admit you weren’t right, it’s not the end of the world.
Yeah, like, it’s a feature that’s gone. Do you think I’m arguing that it should stay gone? Tell me that.
…I did admit it. I just said I was wrong about it not in Halo 2. Why is this so important to you?
Well this thread is about that. If you’re not here to talk about it, why are you even here?

So you’re assuming my position for me, when I haven’t even stated one?
You’re really not worth talking to, KcDodger. I’m just going to flag you for all of the above.

I’m on the side of EMP coming back, Uni. But it is incredibly annoying that you simply assumed I was in opposition to you. Literally voted yes here.
Sorry, in my head I was trying to say maybe that’s why they leaned into the anti vehicle role for the PP in H3. In CE it had anti vehicle functionality so maybe that’s why they leaned into anti-vehicle functionality from H3 on

I’m partial to the idea of shock weapons anti-vehicle utility being based more on the chain lightning thing than emps, and the plasma pistol in turn getting its emp back. Have it so the shock weapons can kill everyone in the vehicle without damaging it unlike everything else, but it won’t kill the occupants as quickly as a dedicated vehicle killer nor will it lock the things in place anymore as that’s the plasma pistol’s job.

I’d like to think it would be able to. It’s sad really!

Either they need to add EMP to Plasma Pistol, or they need to allow us to apply custom weapon mixtures to the charge shot in Forge scripting, and I’d do it myself

Either way, thank you all very much for your input. It is very much appreciated
I sorta like this idea… I could get behind it.

You’re welcome
Thank you very much for that homie, appreciate that
I voted no, because there’s more than enough EMP going around in Infinite as it is, and the Plasma Pistol has become a far more competent weapon with the buffs in received.
A lot of people act like it’s a defining trait of the weapon, despite EMP not even existing in Halo 1 and 2, then in 3 it shared EMPing with the power drain, and in Reach with the Grenade Launcher and Armor Lock. So even once it got it, it wasn’t until Halo 4 that it actually exclusively EMP’d, and in 5 it was then shared with the Scatter Grenade and post-launch the returning Grenade Launcher.
Thing is, between Dynamos, the Disruptor, and the Shock Rifle, EMP is running rampant. Not to mention how many other anti-vehicle options already exist. Skewer, Hammer, Sniper, Rockets, Heatwave, Sentinel Beam, Plasma and Spike grenades, Grapple… Putting it on a whole other weapon right now would only further sink vehicles into obscurity.

As others have mentioned, though, part of the issue there is we don’t really have any especially vehicle friendly maps. Sort that out and I think that balances up nicely

As a spiritual rebirth the games ethos was made by, it should follow closely to Halo CE which did not have EMP Plasma Pistols.

I wouldn’t mind if it was, but they also need to nerf vehicle EMPing in general as there’s way too much of it as it.
Kind of agree with Accessing, it wasn’t in Halo CE and to me that’s the most important Halo title to date.
