Halo games haven’t seen properly executed 1 vs 1 slayer playlists in matchmaking in any of the games yet. I think it’d be a pretty good playlist to implement for Halo 4.
What say you? And what improvements from past 1 vs 1 playlists would you want to see in Halo 4?
One of my friends told me that there was a 1v1 playlist in Halo 3 at one point. Bungie dropped it though. So it obviously wasn’t working. Though, 343 could try it again with Halo 4 and see what happens! I think it would be quite likely that they give it a trial.

One reason why it wouldn’t work is because the worse player would most likely keep getting killed so he would have enough at some time and leave. Another one could be AFK, but I doubt anybody would AFK in 1v1. But this is just a guess, I don’t say those are the reasons.
Um…there has been a 1v1 playlist in both Halo 2 and Halo 3.
The problem with 1v1 playlists is that it brings out the worst gameplay in players. What I mean is people hide, camp, run away or anything to secure the win. This could be very easily solved, however Bungie was either too stupid or arrogant to do it properly.
The key to a successful 1v1 playlist is the maps. They MUST be camp proof, symmetrical maps.

1v1 gameplay is usually boring nonetheless. For example, controlling the power weapons in 1v1 is super easy when you get the control as you continuosly have the upper hand. Basically, 1v1 works best when there are no power weapons around, but that doesn’t make for very interesting gameplay.
To be honest, we don’t need a 1v1 playlist. Doubles is much better and interesting and I doubt that anyone would be so lonely they couldn’t find a doubles partner.

Yeah, I really don’t enjoy 1v1 gameplay, but it is another style of Halo gameplay that is pretty unique. I think if they do it right it deserves a place in MM.
I agree with the power weapons aspect, except I think power weapons like sniper and laser could fit just because they are far more skill intensive.
“Gained the Lead!” runs off, and hides the whole game
It’s not going to work out all that well. You’re going to have people doing that. Also depending on the size, and design of the maps for it. Most of your time is going to be looking for each other.
I’d like it if I could challenge one of my friends in the lobby. A fair game against each other but wouldn’t like it if I had to play it by myself with a stranger.
