1 vs 1 Reinforcements

So 99% of the people out there are haters on reinforcements - but that’s because you guys don’t understand how to play it and/or think it is all luck.

I will admit - the computer choosing at random what units to give you has a great component of luck - but the skill is in how you use those units.

I’ve been playing a lot of 1vs1 reinforcements, and have done some amazing things with crap hands and/or just got out played by forges as I’m running in as Anders. I <3 being the underdog - it’s a challenge and I accept it!

If you are up for a challenging new twist to Halo Wars, I strongly suggest playing Reinforcements. It is easily my favorite game type as you don’t have to worry about building things - only what to do with the hand you are dealt.

Even the try hards can come play  You will probably get mad and give up as the game will “screw you” in an instant, but get over it - try another, and keep playing! You can manipulate what is given, but you have to know how

See you in Reinforcement 1s,

I’m front page - was ez.

I love reinforcements 3v3, but not enough people even play that gametype.

Why to hate game modes? I personally just do not like other modes than standard 1v1.

Maybe you could share your knowledge to rest of the community. O.o

There are enough posts by me in this forum and the old halowars forum that cover all of the items about reinforcements. Google and it will come.

“Reinforcements Halo Wars” and google provided.

P.S., FJ was easily the best Reinforcements player out their. A couple were really good - HeartShark was awesome at it, but FJ was the best I’ve seen.

"Since ive climed the leader boards in reinforcements, and beaten some of the best, im going to share a little of my wisdom.

In reinforcements, there are three things to try and achieve to gain victory:

  1. Attempting to get the best waves possible.

  2. Expanding!

  3. Upgrading leader powers! This is am important one.

In this game mode, its about managing money to get 3000+ waves and expanding to get complete map control.Remember, even a bad wave can be used, dont just dismiss it, use it the best why you can. Never just sacrafice a unit(s) because you would rather have tanks than infantry.

Early game

The early game is really what counts, and if done correctly, will give you such a huge advantage, its hard not to win. Rushing simply doesnt work in reinforcements, the money you can invest into units in early game get chewd up with turrets.

Its not the best idea to expand early aswell, this again, will set you behind slightly, and will make you vaunrable to an early attack.

What you want to do is to invest all your money into supply pads and turrets. Supply pads to earn you alot of money quickly, and turrets to defend any sort of early attack.

Try not to gain any units before 3-4 mins, unless you absolutely need to, but its a rare occasion if you need to. Its possible to have a 3000 wave at 4 mins, and thats your goal. As UNSC you want tech 2, and covenant, tech 1. Just as your big wave is about to come in, sell turrets and anything you can to raise that extra bit of cash for the wave. Remember, unless you have tech 4, dont go past 3000 because its not worth it. You wont get anything extra for that 1000 resources, so you would of just wasted those resources. A 3000 tech 2 wave is all you need.

Mid game

Once youve gotten your super wave, exploit it. Even if its not exactly the units you wanted, they wil still do alot of damage. Depending on what you get, you can use this wave for different things.

Air units are the most valuble IMO, and you must do everything you can to keep your air units alive. Use this air to run around the map, and hit expansions and sockets. Stop the enemy doing anything.

If its vehicles, go on the offense

If its infantry, pelican, or hot drop behind an enemy base, take out as much as you can, and work on another wave.

But, once you have your wave, attack and expand! Use your expansion to raise some extra money, and upgrade the units in your big wave. Remember, the big wave is the most important wave in the game, and if used right, it really sets you forward.

Late Game

It becoms a land grab game, keep your units upgraded, and keep your bases safe. Capture as many bases as you can possibly get, and attack the weaker enemy bases.

This is where you leader powers really come in handy now. 2-3 of you work together to attack one base, a few macs and some cleansing beam will drop a base so fast, the enemy wont have time to react to it.

Ok, i hoped that helps you out in reinforcements. Ive held a few of my secrets behind, but with this guide, you will surely do well.

An easy way of going early game offensive is to drop units at an enemies base if they don’t have turrets and stop them from building any pads. This will be a small expense in comparison to the economical boost you will get over them. Investing a 600 wave plus a 200 pelican can be the best early game choice you can do. Or - capturing hooks.

It is really map dependent, but the early game harassment can turn the game into your favor right from the get! The key like always is…

SCOUT YOUR ENEMY
