I’m an average player at best, and yet somehow I’ve been ranked platinum for both team arena and team slayer. That’s flattering and all, but I regularly get wrecked by teams of gold ranked players. Will the ranking be more accurate as time goes on, or am I stuck in a tier that I don’t belong in? Honestly, it seems we should all start from Bronze and work our way up, that way we start to hover around the rank that we actually belong at.

but I can’t go below platinum, no matter how many times I lose, which is part of the problem
I think win/loss being the factor and not skill is a bigger problem.

Hmmm I see what you are saying. You actually make a valid point if you specifically do not feel up to the level you are assigned. I can also see how that can be frustrating as it will group you with other high people with greater expectations of you based solely by a symbol next to your name. I concur with your statement and agree, that ranking should allow people to drop below to better fit them with people of similar skill.

I don’t think you can drop below the tier that you placed at after the 10 matches. I’m stuck at platinum 1, lose most of my matches, but stay in platinum 1 instead of going down to gold or silver.
What the OP means is you can’t go down out of your division (so in this case he can’t go down from Platinum). He can go down to tier 1, but he will never fall to Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze.
Either way, I think the ranks are fine. It is that radar that truly needs fixing.
