why are they bashing the MTA in req packs?
“oh its just another way for 343 to make extra money.”
no its not, i thought all money from req packs went to the winner of the HCS?
then again, what does it matter anyway?
Of course it’s a way for 343 to make money, and not all the money would go to the HCS champion. That would be a slap to the consumers face. As we payed $60 to buy a game, spend an odd amount of X cash for pro leagues to get, which is free advertisement for the game itself. Pro players who win get to sit on a mountain of cash, 343 gets publicity, and the consumers watch as the millions of accumulated dollars are given out to others who play games for a living.
The money from REQ purchases is needed for 343 for future content like games or DLC there’s no denying that’s what this system is out in place is for. It’s pretty blatantly obvious.
But if the pros were given all the money from REQ purchases that would be an odd 5 million given to a few select players. The prize pool was already a strong 1 million provided by Microsoft, the extra REQ money (about 500,000) was added to give 343 and Halo Esports relavency to draw people in and get people to spend more.
And I would also like to add, that the REQs basically fund the “free” content drops. The content being given to us have probably been finished before launch with needed polish of course. But it’s no doubt that the extra amount can go a long way by adding the extra content we’ve been getting since launch. IE: Skins, armor, extra Forge pieces ect. Which is nothing more but to just over inflate the REQ system in order to get people to buy more.
Which is good and bad. As we shouldn’t let others pay for something we should be getting (maps/ game modes), but those of us who don’t spend a dime on REQs get to enjoy more free content at the cost of others.
It certainly DOES matter, but it depends on the perspective you’re in. It could prove detrimental or lead to a positive eventuality. We’ll just have to wait post June to see how the game looks afterwards. But if you’re happy with everything so far, you shouldn’t let others bother you. Just game on!
Just like any other company, 343i want money!
They should make it F2P and chuck in a whole bunch of hats and crates you need to unlock with keys for -Yoink- skins no one gives 2 -Yoink- about. I mean they already have the skins part. Is it to much to ask to run around with a santa hat on. Hows about a pizza hat or a french fries bag?
They’re making money through voluntary trade. If you want something to complain about, make it government and taxes. They get their money through force and coercion.
Because people like rage about micro-transactions, even when its a theoretically better system than map packs.
I only say theoretically because I find the map quality has really tanked, but beyond both happening at the same time, it’s not certain if its the cause.

I’m pretty sure a small percentage is going to the HCS.
HCS is now 2.5 million and I believe 343 stated that a portion of req money would help crowd fund HCS.
