Since Halo most likely never will use Dedicated severs I want to be able to see who is host just by looking at their screen. There should be a little “H” right over your motion sensor tracker if you are the host of the game. I can easily tell if i am host or not, but most people cannot. It makes me angry to see people running around four shooting people with BR, pummel them through walls, and getting headshots by hitting anyone in the leg, and still denies they are host.
There are no disadvantages when you are HOST. Basically all the information is relayed through your console. Generally everything will be fine on your screen, but other players will experience lag.
It will also be possible to see who is Host (The H mark will be available for everyone in theater), so you can go back and say: “Okay, he was host, just like i thought”, or “No, he wasn’t host, i was wrong”.
Although not everyone cares about who is host and who is not. It plays a big role in high-level gameplay, and even today I still receive messages of the people I’ve played with in Halo 3 “OMGOMG DIS GUY Hosted, ATE 10 SHOTS LOOK AT THE VIDEO.”
If you have time please consider watching this video as it shows host at its most extreme: http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=123840850
