My idea is to be spawned with a group of AI ODSTs and you can command them. The game would play out with each team with a squad of 5 ODSTs. You would be the commander of these ODSTs. You being there leader can give them a waypoints(almost like how hologram is in reach with the point “press rb” and the hologram goes there)and they would go to that position and wait for commands. They would be settable to wait to shoot or to open fire by pressing up or down on the d-pad. keep in mind that these ODSTs would be extremely hard to kill. There aiming would be at a medium accuracy and when you crouch they would crouch to keep the stealth.
The catch is that each player would only have 1 life and first player to kill off the opponents team would win the round. First to 3 wins the game.

OT: In theory, it sounds cool, but with the time 343i have left, unless its already incorporated into the game, it won’t happen. I hope there is some interesting game variant in Halo 4 though, but I fear this would be to difficult to implement effectively in an FPS like Halo.

Well to be frank, they probably don’t take direct suggestions from these forums anyways.
They definitely take feedback from the community, as per the Title Update for Halo Reach.
But Halo 4 was being designed even before the public knew about 343 industries.
It is their game, their ideas, their design.
Their gameplay ideas are already established, already programmed, and currently being polished.

And every bit of what you said was all speculation, as far as I can analyse, Reach was in pre-BETA form this time before it’s release, and changes to the gametypes can be made willingly and according to if they wish to create this change.

Commanding a squad of AI characters isn’t a gametype change, it is a feature that must be designed, programmed, and then bug tested.
At this point in the development cycle, they are adding very little gameplay features, and working on polishing the ones they have.

It would make you think of your next move and it would take much more strategy
the only problem with your idea is that with AI in-game, it will be a laggy hell
