So I’m trying to grind, as many others are right now, to get to 152 before Infinite’s release, and I have noticed theres some debate about which gametype you have the potential to make the most exp per hour in.
So, having no life and having the night off work (overnight worker), I decided to try a little experiment. I played legendary and heroic firefight each for exactly one hour, and also played infection and 343’s featured playlist for an hour.
Anyway, legendary firefight ended up beating out all the rest by about 20,000 exp, at around 77000 exp in an hour. Second place was infection with 53,770 exp. Third was heroic warzone firefight at 51,000 exp, and last was the featured playlist at about 46,000 exp.
So yeah. Those are my results. I realize many of you on here probably dont care. But figured, for those who do, legendary firefight is probably your best bet.
I will say though, I am not the beat Halo player in the world at either infection or various other gametype playlists. Current featured playlist is COVENANT slayer. So you guys may do the same experiment and get different results if you’re continually winning games and placing in the top 3 in infection. I also used various (green and blue) xp boost cards in all my games, so that kinda makes the experiment iffy. But they generally didnt change the experience too much.

Also, for this to truly be accurate you would have to perform the same in all playlists. Like many normal people you probably did worse in Legendary than Heroic so I am pretty sure that is accurate. To further improve this test you should try each playlist for 3 hours. Not in one day obviously but good work so far. Thanks for the info.

We’re talking about Halo 5 right? Idk what you’re talking about with legendary firefight being removed. I was playing it yesterday at 7/8pm. Dont know exact time off the top of my head.
And yes I admit there are a lot of different variables to consider which bring this experiment into question, but believe it or not, I actually did better in legendary than I did in heroic. Legendary is much harder, sure so I died more, but somehow consistently managed to be in the top 50%, often times the top 3. Due to heroic being much easier, everyone generally does a lot better, so while I was playing really well, so was everyone else, making it a lot more competitive. I was often not in the top 50%. With that being said, my experience for both gametype was all over the place. Idk how the calculations are done but they weren’t in line with my expectations.
However heroic warzone still didnt even come close to legendary. I lost one game of legendary and still managed to earn about 15k worth of experience that game, and the game only went 3 minutes. Heroic I got about 1 to 2 more matches done, but in the end that almost barely came up to one match of legendary. Heroic is on average 5-8 minutes shorter than legendary, so that adds up, but I think the extra experience in legendary makes it more worth it.
The closest comparison I could find is zombies. If you’re really good at zombies and have a lot of good bonus REQ packs, you have the potential to make more in zombies, which was the real comparison I wanted to do in this study. As for legendary vs heroic, I dont really think heroic stands a chance. Unless you can consistently get those games done in 10-12 minutes, which is harder than it sounds (especially with randoms), you still wont make as much as legendary.
I think I’m going to just focus on LFF and Infection and switch between the two to prevent burnout.

Lol wtf are you using/doing if you’re getting 20k a match from heroic? What req cards are you using???
I’ve never ever gotten that much from a Heroic match. I’m all out of gold cards so I’m currently trying to use up all my blue XP cards in warzone legendary, and even that only gives me 16k a game. Even when I use a gold card in legendary I’m still bringing in about 23k. Seriously. If you have some way you’re bringing in that much exp consistently on heroic I’d love to know. Itd save me a lot of time. The most exp I ever brought in is when I used my gambit:AI gold cards on legendary. I was making about 29k a game. It was perfect

It is double xp and I’m using Legendary xp boosts. Also, I rarely use vehicles in Firefight or power weapons but it depends on what I am fighting in the round. I don’t even get top 3 most of the time I just kill the little guys and the bosses whenever I can. Here are the links.
