Don’t get me wrong their are things I like about it; such as the win/lose ratio is a good idea. But however it simply does not work. Now I can easily prove this, simply play Halo 4. Why you may ask? Because its in their, you just cannot see it. You see all public matchmaking systems use the 1-50 win/lose ratio just minus the 1-50 ranks. If you keep complaining that Halo 4 needs this system its already their you cannot see though. Just thought I share that little tidbit of information to the screaming masses of the forums.
However for a true competitive ranking system I believe I have found a solution.
Clan/group based matchmaking on a competitive ladder of sorts. If say me and a few friends play this gametypes we are entered into the system as a team. After playing a few games against other teams we then are put into a league. In this league every lets say Friday or Saturday we are put into a match against another team. In this battle we fight it out and if we win he move up the ladder or if we lose we just go back into playing matchmaking or the group based matchmaking. This would be perfect for competitive play and be enjoyable at the same time.
its not…if i were to play infinity slayer right now chances are i would get paired up with some people who know what they are doing some who are not. to prove this some games i go +20 some much less than that. currently this is like the social playlist of halo 3 when there was still a ranking system and you would sometimes get an even match but others you would get people who dont know what they are doing
Your ranking systems is alot like blackops two ranked playlist. although cool it does not really mean anything because you can be a bad player and have good teamates who carry you.

No. It does have an unseen ranking system, but whether or not it works very well… It was probably just copied over from Reach anyway. My point is, there is one.
Even if they did use the same matchmaking system, Halo 3 ranked also forced you to play people within 10 levels of your own level. Halo 4 doesn’t have any restrictions that strict unless you prefer skill while searching.
If there was a true ranking system every match would be a challenge. This is simply not the case.
As for your idea I am strongly, STRONGLY against it simply because I play as a random 99% of the time. I dont have friends online playing halo when I can get on and I am ok with that. To implement a competitive feature only for clans and regular teams would suck for people like me.
