1-50 ranking is bad

It just is stop crying on how halo reach doesnt have one and I hope halo4 wont have one of im proboly going to drop the halo francise off their and stick to reach till I get bored with it.
1-50 Discorages gameplay becuase once you get to the rank you want to be at you simply stop playing matchmaking becuase you dont want to get d-ranked.
D-ranking is a fail idea in its self anyways and probobly they worst apsect of the system. It causes people to shun matchmaking and only play with a full party.

Any flamers, trolls,or mindless commets will be reported.

But isn’t a troll anyone who disagrees with what your saying? So…hmmm…I think what you’ve said is very…interesting?

no a troll is someone who posts of topic or random thoughts

> becuase once you get to the rank you want to be at you simply stop playing matchmaking becuase you dont want to get d-ranked.

What? In Halo 3, if you lost your highest skill (lets say 45) your still a 45. Even than, a lot of people still played on their 50s.
1-50 was good and it kept people playing. With some slight changes it can be a good ranking system.

Almost any ranked playlist in Halo 3 is doing better than Arena, that says a lot.

really? why is yet another topic on this necessary?? go argue these points in any of the myriad of “bring back ranked!” threads in matchmaking instead.

this whole thread is nothing but kindling for a flame fest all around.

> But isn’t a troll anyone who disagrees with what your saying? So…hmmm…I think what you’ve said is very…interesting?

No. A troll someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous (irrelevant, unrelated), or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

A troll isn’t someone who disagrees with you. Someone who disagrees with you is just someone who disagrees with you.

ITT: Troll bait.

I like how you say you’re going to report trolls yet the very OP itself is just begging for a flame-feast.

Edit: And it’s derank, not “d-rank.” Wth did you think the “d” stood for?

I like the reach system, but I love the halo 3 system.

The halo 3 1-50 system is good but needs improvements.
Maybe they can combine the system with reach. Just take out some AA’s.

Or make new AA’s because I love sprint.

Actually, Halo Reach makes me play in a full party because how terribad the randoms are. Nice try though.

oh lol I actually thought the d stood for down

explians why theres more people on halo 3 then there is reach now

NO! Ranking Reach will stop the chaos that is To4s in the MLG Playlist goosing people searching alone.

Speaking from the MLG Community, the Pros and the AMs absolutely need the 1-50 rankings to get the good warmups, or practices, or the intense MM games that we played in Halo 3. Speaking of Halo 3, do you remember how many people played to get that 50? I can’t even remember.

I can’t search the playlist at 3 PM because my options will not be online to run 4s with me. And, there’s no one to play customs with. But with my MLG 50, I could just play, without the fear of having a teammate that is incapable, or playing against a team of 4. To4s should match up with other To4s, not randoms.

Rank Reach. Go on Twitter, and tweet at @HaloWaypoint, like the others, and tweet #ranks. Get it to trend <3.

It needs to be discussed though because currently nothing is being said from 343 about the subject. Until they officially say something about the matter the only thing anyone can do is post and hope that 343 hears them.

> explians why theres more people on halo 3 then there is reach now

Haha, this.

> It just is

It just is?

Can’t argue with that logic.

> stop crying on how halo reach doesnt have one

I haven’t seen anyone “crying”. I’ve seen people very thoroughly and effectively explaining the benefits of 1-50, though.

> 1-50 Discorages gameplay becuase once you get to the rank you want to be at you simply stop playing matchmaking becuase you dont want to get d-ranked.

>implying that rank is the only intrinsic reward for playing a game

> D-ranking is a fail idea in its self anyways and probobly they worst apsect of the system. It causes people to shun matchmaking and only play with a full party.

This is only because people misinterpret how the system works. TrueSkill levels are classifications, not goals. If they’re not rewarded, and if the display of TrueSkill ranks is made strictly opt-in (which would result in most people having them hidden), then the population may manage to understand that it’s literally only meant as the input for what’s basically just a giant sorting algorithm.

Does that not go without saying?

If skill ranking is so bad, how come there are so many peoeple still playing Halo 3, a game that’s over four years old? In electronic media, that’s ancient. I wish Reach had a skill ranking system so I wouldn’t get paired with crap teammates. I am far from the best player out there but many a time, I’ve scored more points than all my teammates combined.

> > explians why theres more people on halo 3 then there is reach now

This is untrue.

When you look at Halo 3’s player stats, you are seeing the total number of players from the past 24 hours.

When you look at Reach’s stats, you are seeing the number of players online right now.

It seems lower at first glance, but if you add up Reach’s population over a 24 hour period, it is much higher than Halo 3’s.

Reach uses the same true-skill based matchmaking system as Halo 3 did… they just don’t show you your rank.

I’m told that while the system is the same, the matching parameters are far more loose, and you must specifically enable Skill as an explicit search parameter just to get to Halo 3 strictness. Predictably, no one does this.

High-quality should have been the default, and speedy-but-sloppy the option – not the other way around.

That’s a perfectly fair opinion, but keep in mind that not everybody feels that way. I personaly care far more about the quality of the connection than the skill rank of the other players in the game. The way I see it, it doesn’t matter how evenly matched I am to my opponents if I’m lagging too much to compete against them
