Don’t rip my head off, I know a lot of you want to stray away from the idea of Halo turning into Call of Duty. However, here is my idea for ranks.
In Halo 3 it was pretty common to see a level 50. Some might say it was too easy and then you had nothing else to play after you got a 50 in nearly every playlist. What if you had the option of resetting that 50 back to level 1 in return for a reward? Maybe for spartan credits or a medal next to your name when you play the playlist again. You could do this for each playlist. For example, get a 50 in Team Slayer, “prestige” (probably use some other term) and get set back to 1 and receive some sort of reward. If the reward you got maybe was some sort of medal next to your name then when you go back into the playlist as a level 1 you can only match up with players that are near the same level as you and have the same medal. Thus, not ruining the trueskill system.
Yes, this is essentially what Call of Duty does, with the spin that you need to win games to get to 50, not just play and earn exp win or lose. Pretty unoriginal but I feel that the concept would work and lengthen the time spent on ranked playlists.
All of this is hypothetical to the thought that 1-50 might make a return.
Ideas? Thoughts? Go ahead and bash, however, I know a few people might like this idea.
One of the major problems with a visible trueskill is delevelers. This would just make it easier for those to do it. The trueskill system was created to match you up with people that are just as good as you. If you let the most skilled players reset themselves it just messes up the integrity in which the system was create for in the first place.
Now resetting there experience points once they hit inheritor is fine by me.

Only the number would change. Trueskill would still be there. It would be almost the same thing as being a level 51 basically.
no rewards, if you want to prestige then fine but nothing ingame. we dont want to promote more boosting. but then again we might not even get 1-50. by the looks of things its pretty much looking like halo reach progressive with tweaks.

Only reward you get is the medal next to your name then. No spartan points.
It will become difficult to find matches. Might as well just make more levels or make it harder to get to 50.
Prestiging?..See that giant rectangle that allows you to enter the room you are in? Thats called a door…-Yoink- XD
But seriously, No :I …dumb idea
