1-100?

a theoretical ranking system. PLZ THIS IS FOR THE SAKE OF DISCUSSION. DISCUSS HOW GOOD/BAD MY IDEA IS, DO NOT DISCUSS ABOUT ‘343 IS NOT INCLUDING A 1-50’ OR ‘343 IS INCLUDING THEIR OWN SYSTEM’. I DO NOT WANT THIS SYSTEM IN THE GAME, I JUST WANT TO SEE IF IT IS GOOD IN UR OPINIONS

a 1-100 ranking system solely based on wins and losses.
how it could work:
-win a game, add 1 exp
-be player with most kills/come top three in a FFA game, add 1 exp
-be player with best objective score in a team game, add 1 exp
-lose a game, lose 1 exp

Unranked is 0 exp. Cannot go lower
1-10 requires 1 exp to level up
11-20 requires 2 exp to level up
21-30 requires 3 exp to level up
31-40 requires 4 exp to level up
41-50 requires 5 exp to level up
51-60 requires 6 exp to level up
61-70 requires 7 exp to level up
71-80 requires 8 exp to level up
81-90 requires 9 exp to level up
91-100 requires 10 exp to level up
To reach lvl 100 in the shortest time, you must win 184 objective games consecutively whilst getting the most kills and the best score. 550 exp to reach level 100.

No grammar nazis, i’m lazy not stupid.

  1. This system seems easy to exploit, either through party boosting or simply quitting out before a game ends. If those were to be punished, a la Halo 3, then perhaps you’re on to something.

  2. This system creates a nightmare in terms of creating equal matchups. What if I’m in a party with all ends of the EXP spectrum? Say, a lvl 4, lvl 49, lvl 61, and lvl 98? How could the game possibly create an equal match for the opposing team, if rank is purely determined by EXP guidelines?

  3. Since I’m new to Waypoint, I don’t quite know how these forums “roll” yet, but it seems to me that people are a bit touchy when it comes to discussing the ranking systems…perhaps it is best to simply wait and see what system we’ll be dealing with in 3 months? My two cents

Seems like a good enough idea! I do like how halo 2’s was set up. I also liked how the level symbols looked. Not just plain numbers but styles and then pictures after. It was awesome. Though I never reached them it was fun seeing it. And then it seemed to me only clans could boost and the modders got high levels. Everyone was too busy playing the game for what it is then spending 28 hours straight trying to get host control and boot the other ream just to get to 50. It was fun, and I miss it.

But to get back on topic, I think you’d needna thing like this. Beating someone who’s in the next tier of levels gains you two exp and losing docks you two, like a reward. And so on and so forth up the tier system. That would be a legit addition to any multiplayer game. Good post op!

@echomarine: forgot to add, you lose 1 exp for quitting (if you quit, and your team wins, you do not get 1 exp. You also do not get exp for having the best score)

not sure how it would be implemented.
