07 installation and the flood

with the flood being contained on Halo installation 07, how do you want the flood to be portrayed if and when they show up in infinite?

I think halo 4 did a great job maybe giving us a sneak peak of what 343i has in store for the flood. Though they are returning to a classical art style, one thing 343 did right was the flood art style in Halo 4, even if it was only a portrayal of humans.

The flood is coming. They need to be vicious.

I would like Halo games to be as graphic as the novels. The flood should be terrifiying, and yes vicious. Halo games have always been too safe, especially 4 and 5. I urge any player to read the books if they have not already, some of the content is disturbing, to put it mildly.

If the Flood is coming back I want a visceral look, the Flood are dangerous, from airborne spores to infection forms and the rest. I agree, the Human portrayal in Halo 4 was pretty good, time will tell what we get.

343i is building an over-arching narrative were you need to build the base characters we like, have them do cool things then just get the flood to show up and wipe them all out except the humans and covenant.

After Playing Halo 4 and 5, i don’t think any of this will come to be but i have hopefully!

When did we see Flood in Halo 4? Were they in storage tanks or something? I forget a lot of the happenings

I’d like them portrayed as being still locked in their containment units. Combat Forms in stasis tubes, muddied over with time, so that you can’t see them super clearly but can still tell they’re Flood. Large vats or tanks with live Infection Forms trapped inside. Terminals you can activate that play back video footage of the experimentations, with human subjects being exposed to infection forms to see the transformation. I want the ground of the quarantine zone to have a layer of inactive Flood spores on the ground that you leave footprints in as you walk through it, like ash from a volcanic eruption. And maybe, maybe the occasional jump scare enemy who comes at you out of nowhere to keep you on your toes while you navigate the zone.

In Halo 4’s flood mode, 343 had a great portyal of the Flood in human form.

thats another thing that’s been in my mind. There has to be a difference between the Flood from the Halo rings vs the flood further outside the galaxy which is a more “true” form and said to be more dangerous, as described in the Forerunner saga.

So like cold storage and h2a lockout?

Halo: Primordium ended with the ring shrouded in a perpetual fog with Flood biomass across portions of the ring and Graveminds held in stasis in various places. Recent lore suggests that is all gone now, but what a situation that would have made, right?

Fossilized Gravemind remains would make for great ambiance.

Recent lore meaning Bad Blood? Please don’t spoil it for me I’m on chapter 4! And if it really is all gone doesn’t that suggest the graveminds escaped? In the past Monitors of Halo rings have hit rampancy and gone nuts I wouldn’t be surprised if the monitor of 07 released them all. Possibly even siding with Cortana?

Why would a rampant Monitor release the Flood? Guilty Spark was suffering from rampancy (or at least early stages) and he never thought of trying to release the Flood; his biggest concern was containing the Flood. Even Penitent Tangent, who had probably gone rampant after being captured by the Flood, didn’t want them out; even gripped in a Gravemind’s clutches, he wanted to contain the Flood.

Not every rampant AI suffers from logic plague.

Flood being brought back in Halo Infinite is a must!

There could be endless reasons why the flood on 07 could have escaped or been released. But them just not being there doesn’t make sense, it’s fishy. I’m going to come back to this thread after Infinite release just to say I told you so. I’m almost positive in Infinite we will see the flood. Cortana having everyone EMP’d in the galaxy can easily have the flood spreading and ready to pounce any minute now under her radar.

I’m sure the Flood or reference to the Flood will be seen in Infinite. But I hope it’s only in a limited capacity. I don’t want to see the Flood return in a big way before the Created arc has concluded.

Not every race in the galaxy has been shut down by Guardians. Only the ones who said no to Cortana. The Grunts, for instance, are doing quite well under her rule.

I think it’s fishier that the Flood would suddenly appear on Installation 07 in Infinite when humanity has had a presence on that ring since 2555 and not reported any findings of Flood activity.

That assumes every planet knocked out by the Guardians still is knocked out. I mean, if the supposed clues people have found point to the game being set in 2560, then I doubt Cortana had all the planets she controls without power for two years.
